Three weeks after the inaugural meeting of the Uzodinma Committee, the Bishop's New Anglican Church Planning Committee called with a pointed question directed by Chief J. O. Onabajo at Mr. E. C. C. Uzodinma: "The Bishop asks: Where will I establish a Church on Victoria Island?" The answer was the Primary Three classroom of the Estate Primary School where the inaugural service of Holy Communion was held from 11 a.m. on Easter day, 30th March 1986.
The text of the sermon of the Bishop was taken from Rev. 1 :8-18. One unique thing about the service was that the seats being for 8-year olds and being too small for the adults, the Bishop, the Vicar, Canon (now Ven.,Dr.) S. O. Adesina, and all the 131 worshippers were on their feet throughout the Easter day service. The collection at that inaugural service was N271.05.
The Sunday school took off on 13th April with six kids. On the same day, the first "Vestry meeting" took place after the service and the chairman of the Residents Association was elected the first Peoples' Warden. The first baptism of 15 candidates took place on 15th June. The first Juvenile Harvest on 28th September fetched N3, 000 and the Adult Harvest and Bazaar on 30th November netted N1 0,132.00. The year was rounded off with a Watch Night Service at which 420 worshipped the Lord into 1987
