A NEW BEGINNING |

At 4:00am. On Friday 9th December, 2005, the Federal Government made good its threat to evict the occupants of the 1004 Estate following the breakdown of negotiations between the government and the occupants of the estate on the future of the estate after Government’s divestment effects were traumatic especially on Youths who had known no other home apart from the estate. Attendance at church services naturally nose-dived and weekday activities almost became non-existent by year-end. |

Though attendance at Sunday Services were low and weekday programmes suffered tremendous set back, life gradually returned to Church. The Choir, bounced back, the guild of steward remained steadfast and the workers remained on the post serving faithfully. On the first anniversary of the eviction [9th December 2006], the church had a Family Reunion and Retreat where it was resolved to put the past behind and strive forward to reposition the Church to Meet the challenges of the new community that would evolve when the estate reopen its gates, hopefully in the new year, to new residents. |

At the year-end, the Archbishop upgraded the Parish to an Archdeaconry Seat by making it the Headquarters of the Victoria Island Archdeaconry which would become operational on 1st January, 2007, with the Vicar, the First Archdeacon and Chairman of the Archdeaconry Board. |
